Bonsai is a Brooklyn music project featuring singer-songwriter Simone Stevens, and fellow NY based players Greg McMullen(Trixie Whitely, Glenn Branca) on guitar and pedal steel, Dave LeBlanc (Paul Loren, The Barnstorm) on drums, and Brian Karp (Annie Minogue) on bass. The first EP was produced, engineered, and mixed by Dan Molad (Lucius, Elizabeth and the Catapult, JD McPherson), who also performs on the record alongside Pete Lalish (Lucius) at Sounds Like a Fire in Brooklyn, New York. It was released in May 2014 to favorable reviews from Spin Magazine, Paste, Daytrotter, and more.

After some years traveling and exploring, Simone and company are returning with this sparkling set of new tunes in the Steal You EP. Produced by Steve Wall (Lucius, Tall Tall Heights, Jeff Taylor, Dumpster Hunter), a rattling of styles deliver a rich, multilayered little record, with comparisons to Mazzy Star, The Pretenders, and Neko Case. It takes flight August 28th, 2020.
